Abstract

429,544. Screw propellers. BARKER, A., 6, Handley Avenue, Thornleigh, near Sydney, Australia. April 30, 1934, No. 12995. [Class 114] A screw propeller blade in which the medial centre line has a constant pitch is formed with faces constituted by oblique helicoids equally disposed on either side of the the medial line so that the thickness increases from root to tip. The screw propeller blade is formed in sections 15, 17, 19, 20 with steps 16, 18, 22, the section of each being rhomboidal, the area of the maximum sections of each step being equal, and the faces such as 15, 15<a> diverging at an appreciable angle. The complete blade may be formed in three sections 81, 82, 83 contiguously disposed along the shaft. The ratio of pitch to diameter is 1À5708.
