Abstract

504,849. Screw propellers. HIGH DUTY ALLOYS, Ltd., and PRYTHERCH, W. E. Dec. 16, 1937, No. 34734. [Class 114] A hollow air-screw is divided longitudinally into two or more parts each of which is a stamping, pressing or forging of light alloy, the parts being united by synthetic rubber or resin. The dish-shaped sections 1 and 2 are secured by a bonding-agent of synthetic rubber or resin. The edges of the parts are morticed or rebated 7 and 8 to form a lateral and longitudinal interlock. The blade may be bound with wire or tape 11, 12 and 13, along whole or part of its length and the edges are grooved 14 to position the wire. The thickness of the walls diminishes from root to tip and the whole assembly is sheathed with synthetic rubber or resin. The bonding-agent and sheathing is conveniently converted isoprene and polymerized butadiene.
