[Classes 145 (i) and 145 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A process for the treatment of laminated wood par. ticularly applicable to the manufacture of air-propellex and fan blades consists in applying to a stack of superimposed adhesive - coated laminations a pressure which is heavy at one part, light at another, the pressure being graded over the intermediate transition zone. This procedure can be carried out by interposing between the main laminations a, shorter laminations the internal ends of which are tapered. The assemblage is then pressed until the central portion of the stack is solid. According to another method, a stack of laminations are operated on by a three-part press such as is indicated in Fig. 2, the end sections being formed with shouldered or inclined inner surfaces and reduced ends to effect the desired local pressure. According to a further modification, the ends of the stack may be pressed in two directions at right-angles.
