Abstract

158,693. Smith, J. W. Nov. 11, 1919. Linear-dimension gauges. - Relates to gauges that are fixed in use, but may be set to different dimensions by reassembling the constituent parts in alternative positions, and consists in arranging three accurately machined members in various combinations to form a series of snap gauges. A rectangular block 3 with holes 4, machined to three definite different dimensions, is rigidly held between members 2, of which all the ends are finished to different thicknesses. The members are rigidly held in any combination by a bolt 5 and a nut 6, the required assembly being facilitated by letters marked on the edges with reference to a known table etched on one of the members. The edges are inclined or V-shaped for use as angle gauges.
