Abstract

Knobs and handles, attaching.-Door-handle and like spindles of the split type are formed at the ends and middle portion with a number of separated expanded parts standing out beyond the intermediate portions a so as to give a firm fit in the holes in the door handles &c. and in the door-catch operating device. As shown in Fig. 1, the spindle may be made from one piece of metal, square in section, divided at the ends and middle by transverse slots into four parts, which are then expanded. The spindle may also be made up of a number of bars secured together, or by stamping from sheet metal.
