Abstract

429,223. Fastenings; window holders. MULLINERS, Ltd., and THOMPSON, W., Bordesley Green Road, Birmingham. May 16, 1934, No. 14741. [Class 44] With a sliding window having balancing means (shown as comprising an arm b pivoted at e, biassed by a spring g, and having a roller c at its free end running in a channel d on the vertically sliding window a) means are provided for holding the window in adjusted position comprising an auxiliary arm h pivoted to arm b and having sliding and rocking movement through a fixed guide k as arm b moves during adjustment of the window. Arm h has a slot with toothed edges normally engaged by teeth v on a catch plate u carried by a plunger l and held in engagement by a spring p. A rotatable rod q with handle s above the garnish rail r has a recess t in which the end of the plunger l normally rests, rotation of the rod urging the plunger to the right. Fig. 4, to move plate u out of engagement to release the window for adjustment. According to the Provisional Specification the plunger is operated by an eccentric peg at the lower end of the rotatable rod, the guide for arm h is pivotally mounted on the plunger casing, and arm b comprises two plates welded together, one having a plain slot guiding a rectangular portion of the catch member, and the other a toothed slot engaged by the catch.
