Abstract

523,361. Operating railway points. RAILWAY SIGNAL CO., Ltd., ROBERTS, W.S., and KIDD, D.J.O. Jan. 3, 1939, No. 121. [Class 104 (i)] The rod 10 moves the points by means of a lever 8 engaging with lost motion a forked lever 6 connected by rod 4 to the points. During the first part of the movement of 10, the lever 8 does not engage 6, and an extension 11 of 10 moves in locking plunger 16 to unlock the points by means of links 12, 12a, rack 22, pinion 24, crank 27 and rod 17. During the next part of the movement of 10, lever 8 moves the points, and during the next movement, the crank 27, moving in the same direction as before, moves the plunger 16 to locking position. In another form the rack 22 engages a toothed sector on a pivoted member provided with a cam slot connected to the plunger. This form may be used also for operating the points. In another form, the pinion 24 rotates a cam engaging rollers on a slide connected to the plunger.
