This invention relates to window raising and lowering mechanisms, particularly mechanisms for raising and lowering motor vehicle windows, the object of the invention being to provide a simple and efiective mechanism adapted to be arranged in a compact form.
The invention comprises the combination of an actuating lever, an arm having an intermediate part pivoted to the outer end of the lever, a slide to which one end of the arm is pivoted, a guide on which the slide is mounted, a member to which the other end of the arm is pivoted and through which this end of the arm can act on the window, and another arm forming with the first arm a parallel-motion linkage interconnecting the said member and the slide.
The accompanying drawing is an elevation of mechanism constructed in accordance with the invention for raising and lowering a motor vehicle window.
In carrying the invention into efiect as shown, I employ a lever a which is formed on or secured to a toothed wheel or segment I), the latter being engaged by a pinion c which can be rotated by a handle d. If desired the lever a and segment or toothed wheel b may be one and the same member, a projection on one side of the segment or wheel serving as the operative endof the lever. Alternatively the lever may be actuated directly by a handle. pivotally attached at e to an intermediate part of an am 1. One end of the arm is adapted to act on the vertically movable window 9, and for this purpose is pivoted to a bracket 2' on a channel 9' accommodating and supporting the lower edge of the window. The other end of arm 7 is. across the lever a, so that the end connected with the constraining means lies at one side of the pivot axis of the lever and the other end lies at the other side.
The free end of the arm 1 is pivoted to a slide q on a horizontal guide, the latter being formed by a plate 1' which carries the mechanism, and the slide being shaped to embrace the edges of the plate. Also, another arm s is pivoted at its ends to the bracket 2' and slide q respectively, and forms with the arm I a parallel-motion linkage interconnecting the bracket and slide.
By this invention I am able to provide a simple and effective window raising and lowering mechanism in a compact form well suited for use in a confined space.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patout is:

an arm, a pivot directly connecting the intermediate part of said arm to the outer end of the lever, a laterally extending guide member arranged adjacent the said actuating lever, a slide carried by said guide member and having one end of the arm pivoted thereto, a member to which the other end of the arm is pivoted and through which this end of the arm can act on the window, and another arm forming with the first arm a parallel-motion linkage interconnecting the said member and the slide, whereby any tilting of said window is prevented while the slide prevents any lateral thrust against the window guides.
2. Window raising and lowering mechanism including in combination a window, an actuating member, two parallel members, one of said members being connected to said actuating member, means connecting two corresponding ends of said parallel members to said window, a movable member to which the other two corresponding ends of said two parallel members are pivotally connected and guide means on which said movable member is mounted and constraining the movement thereof as to its path and direction whereby the arrangement of the parallel members prevents any tilting of the window and ing member, a bracket to which two corresponding ends of said two parallel arms are pivotally connected, a channel member connected to said bracket for accommodating and supporting said opening, a window slidable with reference to said opening, a bracket fixed to said structure and comprising guiding means, a sliding member arranged for movement on said guiding means, said guiding means and said sliding member being so arranged as to control both the path of movement and the rotation of said sliding member with reference to said window structure, a window bracket fixed to said slidable window, a first and a second link each pivotally connected at one end to said sliding member at different points and at the opposite end to different points of said window bracket, means connected to said window structure and to a point of said first link and operable to move said link point along a predetermined path with reference to said window structure, whereby the slide end of said first link moves said sliding member and is thereby com- 10 pelled to follow a predetermined path thereby compelling all points of said first link includin the window bracket end to follow a predetermined path whereby said sliding member by its movement compels the slide end of said second link to follow a predetermined path and the window bracket end of said second link controls the rotation of said window bracket with reference to the window bracket end of said first link.
