Abstract

499,513. Revolving seats. ACCLES & POLLOCK, Ltd., and PARDOE, F. Aug. 26, 1937, No. 23389. [Class 52 (ii)] A seat for vehicles &c., reversible by sliding and rotating, comprises a base a, b, a seat frame f, and interconnecting means consisting of a pair of guides c, d at right-angles to each other on one of the posts, e.g. the base frame a, and a pair of rollers h, i on the other part working in the guides to permit sliding and rotational movement. The guides c, d are of channel form with inturned edges, and open into each other at their junction. The rollers h, i on the seat frame lie in the longitudinal guide c when the seat is in normal position, while one roller passes into the guide d when reversing the seat. The spindle j carrying the roller h extends through a slot in the bases of the guides and through a slot in an arm n which is pivoted at one end to the base a. A spring o on the arm n bears on the spindle j, and a cable q secured to the spindle is attached at the other end to a quadrant r actuated by a foot pedal s. To lock the seat in normal position, a sliding bolt u, operated by the pedal s, engages an aperture in the seat frame. The pedal s operates the quadrant r through a spring- loaded abutment v and a roller w, so that the bolt u is operated before the spindle is drawn along the guide by the cable q.
