Abstract
486,736. Sliding - clasp fastenings. TENNANT, W. J. (Metallbesatz Ges.) Dec. 13, 1937, No. 34508. [Class 44] In a machine for feeding and clamping the fastener elements 3 of a sliding-clasp fastener on to the tape the elements piled one over the other are fed down a guide rail 1 having a thickened edge 2 with the elements engaging by their legs behind such thickened edge. The lowermost element drops on to a sliding head which transfers the element to the tape 14 and clamps it thereon by means of two swinging arms 16; these arms are linked to a cross-piece 17 which is arrested when the element straddles the tape whereas the main body of the slide, on which the arms 16 are pivoted, continues forward and so effects an angular movement of the arms 16 which causes their end faces to approach each other. The crosspiece 17 has a plate 21 on which the fastener element is carried. The column of elements on the guide rail 1 is held up by a presserrod mechanism 4, 41 bearing on the lowermost element.
