Abstract

347,733. Window blinds. ZIPPERLE, E., Asperg, Wurtemberg, Germany. Jan. 4, 1930, No. 428. Convention date, Jan. 4, 1929. [Class 52 (v).] A roller blind, particularly for use as an antidazzle screen for the rear window of a motor vehicle, consists of a roller b rotatably mounted on a screw-threaded shaft d carrying a nut g which can be moved along the shaft to rotate the roller. In the construction shown the nut g, which has a plug h engaging a slot in a yoke i attached to the roller, is connected to a sliding nonrotatable sleeve k having a pivoted latch o to which a cable q is attached, the cable after passing through a guide t, secured to the shaft, passing out of the roller through a bore in the shaft to a position near the driver's seat. A compression spring n is arranged between the sleeve and the guide t. When the cable has been pulled, to move the sleeve k and nut g along the shaft, to lower the blind, the tension on the cable is suddenly relaxed to allow the spring-pressed latch o to engage a notch r in the shaft and maintain the blind in position against the action of the spring n which, on the cable being jerked to release the latch o, moves the sleeve k and nut g back along the shaft to wind up the blind. The cable q is enclosed in a tube s.
