Abstract

401,196. Sliding seats. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and EDMONDS, E. C., Widney Works, Bagot Street, Birmingham. May 2, 1933, No. 12728. [Class 52 (ii).] In sliding seats for vehicles of the type in which channel members 4, Figs. 3 and 5, are secured to the floor and are engaged by bearing bars 2 fixed to the seat, locking means comprise a vertical sliding plunger 10 mounted in a guide part 8 carried by the seat, a spring 11 normally holding the lower part 9 of the plunger in engagement with one of a series of notches 7 formed in the edges of the member 4, and a cam or lever 13 pivoted to the upper end of the plunger and cooperating with the housing 8 when turned angularly to raise the plunger and disengage it from the notch 7. The lower end of the plunger preferably comprises a part 9 adapted to bridge the channel member 4 and engage in notches on opposite sides thereof, and the housing 8 is formed by the bent over end of the bar 2. The bar 2 carries rollers 5 engaging in the channel member 4. Specification 388,339 is referred to.
