Abstract

Monoacyl derivatives of cyanamide, derived from carboxylic acids having at least ten carbon atoms or salts thereof are used as dispersing agents and also as auxiliaries in aqueous textile treating baths. They are stated to be wetting and washing agents and are not readily hydrolyzed. Acyl derivatives obtained from lauric, palmitic, stearic, oleic, erucic, ricinoleic, abietic, resinic and naphthenic acids are specified. The preparation of stearoylcyanamide is described by treating stearin chloride, bromide or iodide with cyanamide in ether. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of any mono acyl derivative of cyanamide as a soap, wetting out or dispersing agent. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Mono acyl derivatives of cyanamide, derived from carboxylic acids having at least ten carbon atoms or salts thereof are used as dispersing agents for normally insoluble substances. Acyl derivatives obtained from lauric, palmitic, stearic, oleic, erucic, ricinoleic, abietic, resinic and naphthenic acid are specified. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use, as dispersing agents, of any mono acyl derivative of cyanamide. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
