[Class 78 (i)] [See also Group XXXIV] A housing for ball or roller bearings, especially those mounted in the ends of conveyer or like rollers or drums n, comprises an annular disc a centrally dished to hold the ball bearing c and a cover plate f which is also centrally dished to provide a lubricant reservoir and has notches k in its periphery corresponding in size and position to inward projections e on the peripheral flange d of the disc a, the parts a, f being secured together by a split spring ring m arranged between the projections e and the cover plate. The projections e are formed by making saw cuts in the flange d and bending over the narrow portion therebetween. On removal of the ring m, the cover plate f may be withdrawn by aligning its notches k with the projections e. The lubricant reservoir is supplied by a passage p from the nipple r. A fibre washer h prevents the entrance of dirt &c.
