427,951. Making leather. BOCCIARDO & CO. SOC. ANON., S., and BOCCIARDO, G., 39, Via Canevari, Genoa, Italy. Nov. 26, 1934, No. 33986. [Class 76] White leather is manufactured by a process in which the prepared depilated hides &c. are pretanned with a formaldehyde solution, adjusted if desired by the addition of alkalis to a pH value of 7 to 9À8, washed with water and tanned with an acidified waterglass solution. Colloidal silicic acid prepared by dialysis or otherwise may be substituted for the acidified waterglass. The leather after tanning is treated with sodium sulphite solution.
