Abstract

A process for liberating hair from hides &c. wherein the hide is disintegrated comprises treatment in a bath of hot dilute sulphuric acid to which is added a known agent for protecting the hair such as silver nitrate. The gelatinous matter obtained is stated to be useful for various purposes.
