Abstract

427,939. Hand - propelled bicycles. KNETEMANN, J. A., Oegstgeest, Holland. July 13, 1934, No. 20597. Convention date, Feb. 8. [Classes 136 (i), 136 (ii), and 136 (iii)] A hand-propelled vehicle is provided with two running wheels 3, 4 arranged in line, of which the front wheel 4 is steered by the feet of the rider, as by means of footrests 7, the vehicle being propelled solely by means of two hand-actuated sticks 11 adapted to be pushed against the ground. The sticks 11 may have rubber tips 12 at their lower ends. The frame consists of a bent tube 1, and supports a seat 2 at a level lower than the tops of the wheels. Overbalancing is prevented by auxiliary side rollers 8, which may be removed when not required. A resiliently-mounted mudguard 9 is fitted with a brake shoe 10, which is adapted to be pressed against the wheel 3 by the back of the rider.
