Body motion and weight of rider, mechanism for propelling by, combined with other driving mechanism.-In a velocipede in which the weight of the rider is supported by an auxiliary wheel adapted to press on the rim of the road wheel t a point slightly in front of or behind the point of contact with the ground to assist in the propulsion or retardation of the vehicle, the weight is applied to a lever at the lower end of which the auxiliary wheel is mounted, the lever being longitudinally slotted for the accommodation of Lhe axle of the main wheel. In a velocipede cornprising front and rear road wheels 6 and a central wheel 1, the saddle 7 is secured to the top of a lever 3 slotted to receive the wheel axle 2 and supported at its lower end on an auxiliary wheel 5, stops 21 limiting the backward or forward movements of the lever which assist or retard the motion of the velocipede.
