Abstract

350,257. Combined land and water vehicles. LAMBERT, L. C., Belvedere, Manse Road, Bearsden, Glasgow. June 24, 1930, No. 19186. [Class 113 (ii).] A motor vehicle designed to run on land or water comprises a chassis on which the boat-shaped body is mounted and comprising longitudinal girders 4, 5, on which the engine is mounted, and extending to transverse bulkheads 2, 3 on which, by a single point suspension in the case of the forward bulkhead and by several bolts in the case of the rear bulkhead transverse springs are mounted, the free ends being connected to the axles in the usual manner. The engine drive is communicated to a gear wheel 17 on the hollow shaft 18 associated with clutches 23 bv which the drive is communicated either to the propeller 22 or through a universal joint 25 and the shaft 21a to the front wheels of the vehicle. The shaft 21a is enclosed in the torque tube 27 embraced by a rubber cone 28 to form a watertight joint.
