Velocipedes for children.-In velocipedes for children, of the kind propelled by the body motion and weight of the rider communicated to the driving-axle by a saddle-pillar rack 12 engaging with a pinion 15 driving the axle through a one-way .clutch, the whole of the driving-mechanism, with the exception of the return spring 16 for the rack member 12, is mounted and contained between two side plates 2 constituting the framework of the machine, a steering-wheel 3 being mounted at the forward end of the framework and the driving- axle 7 towards the rear thereof. The shaft of the pinion 15 carries a large wheel 10 meshing with a small wheel 9 on the axle 7, and, as shown, this axle is fitted with two road wheels 8. Footboards 17 are provided on the plates 2.
