Abstract

Convention date, Aug. 8, 1933. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In a two - stroke engine having a pump chamber 5 behind the working piston 2, and a second pump chamber 6 with a pump piston 3 acting as a crosshead, the admission to both pump chambers, and their delivery to the cylinder inlet port 19, are controlled by a single rotary valve 22, on the side of the engine. The valve is divided by a transverse partition 21, Fig. 5, into two chambers, one of which has ports 20, 25 adapted to connect both pump chambers to a delivery passage 16 in the valve casing; while the other has ports 11, 18 to connect the pump chambers to an inlet passage 15, open to the atmosphere at 17 and divided from the passage 16 by a partition 14.
