Abstract

Waste water is filtered through heavy peat, brown coal or lignite which has been irrevocably coagulated to a powdered or flaky condition by chemical treatment, heat treatment or freezing. Lime is mentioned as a suitable chemical agent for coagulating the material. When its capacity for absorption has become exhausted the filtering material may be used as manure.
