Abstract
In the purification of sulphur as described in the parent Specification, sulphur dioxide formed during the process is removed by treating the solution with calcium oxide which has been slightly moistened as by treatment with wet steam or by sprinkling with water, the amount added being small, e.g. two per cent. Alternatively, the necessary water may be added to the sulphur solution. Addition of this amount of water does not affect the physical nature of the lime which may be used in granular condition as a filter bed for the solution of sulphur.
