Abstract
Mineral or vegetable oil, which has been used for lubricating, insulating, quenching or grinding, is regenerated by treating it with sulphur trioxide or oleum, to absorb water therefrom and to polymerize and precipitate impurities therefrom, and then filtering it through fuller's earth. If desired, the filtration may be carried out under increased pressure. The oil may be subjected, if desired, to a preliminary treatment with a bleaching agent in powder form, for example a bleaching agent sold under the Trade Names "Floridin," "Florisil" or "Bensil."
