Abstract

196,239. Maclachlan Reduction Process Co., Inc., (Assignees of Maclachlan, A.). April 12, 1922, [Convention date]. Treating-materials; manures.-Activated sludge is treated with sulphur dioxide which may be mixed with steam. The treated sludge is concentrated by settling and by means of filter-presses or centrifugal apparatus, or by draining on sand beds. The product, when dried, is suitable for use as manure. Apparatus in which the fumes of burning sulphur are aspirated by live steam, as described in Specification 172,777, may be used.
