Abstract

Chlorinated rubber is separated from its solutions by spraying the solution in the presence of condensible vapours at a temperature in the neighbourhood of or above the boiling point of the solvent and removing and condensing the vapours and the vaporized solvent. The condensible vapour should be that of a liquid not miscible with or soluble in the solvent; steam is suitable. The solution may be sprayed with the aid of the condensible vapour. The sprayed mixture may be blown into a quantity of the condensed liquid, e.g. through a nozzle beneath the surface of water. The steam is completely or partly condensed, while the solvent vapours pass off to a condenser.
