Abstract
425,615. Photographic developing processes. WEST, A. G. D., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, London. Sept. 15, 1933, No. 25643. [Class 98 (ii)] [See also Group XL] In the production of a scanning-disc for television which comprises a glass or celluloid body carrying an emulsion with grains of small size, the apertures are formed photographically by a process either of reversal or of physical development. For ensuring image-grain of small size, a developer comprising paraphenylene diamine rendered alkaline with trisodium phosphate is used in a reversal process whereby the exposed portions of the emulsion are dissolved away and the unexposed portions are rendered opaque ; or alternatively the process of physical development is adopted. The developer referred to may comprise water, 1000 cc. ; p.p.diamine, 10 grains ; 10 per cent solution of trisodium phosphate, 20 cc. ; anhydrous sodium sulphate, 60 grains ; 10 per cent solution of potassium bromide, 10 cc. Final development may take place for 1 hour at 17 to 18‹ C.
