Abstract
446,172. Photographic reversal processes. HARRISON, G. B., 23, Roden Street, Ilford, Essex. Oct. 11, 1934, No. 29186. Drawings to Specification. [Class 98. (ii)] In the silver halide reversal process, wherein a latent negative (or positive) image in a silver halide emulsion layer is removed after development, and the residual silver halide is then converted into a positive (cr negative) in the same layer, control of contrast in the reversed image is obtained by subjecting the layer to a controlled exposure to uniform light to produce general fog at any time prior to the first development, i.e. prior to, during, or after the first exposure. In the case of a film,. the fogging exposure may be given by passing the film, after it has been exposed in a camera or under a negative or positive image which is to be copied, at uniform speed under a uniformly-illuminated slit. The primary image and general fog produced by development are both removed in the usual reversal bath, whereafter the layer is exposed to diffused light and developed to produce the reversed image. The underlying theory is discussed in the Specification with reference to characteristic curves. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 432,505, [Group XXXVIII].
