Abstract

537,928. Intensifying photographic latent images. TECHNICOLOR MOTION PICTURE CORPORATION. Feb. 13, 1940, No. 2749. Convention date, May 5, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Class 98 (ii)] - A picture is produced in a silver halide emulsion layer by forming an under-exposed latent image therein, intensifying the image by flashing the layer with infra-red radiation, and then developing it. The flashing may be applied for a fraction of a second only. Apparatus for flashing an exposed kinematograph film comprises a drum, preferably rubbercovered, over which the film is led from a supply reel to a take-up reel, and a fan-ventilated lamp-house provided with an aperture closed by a Corning infra-red filter No. 254 or Wratten filter No. 87, and located close to the drum surface. The method may be applied to sets of colour-record films, or to films bearing images in differently colour-sensitive emulsions either in superimposed layers or in a mixed-grain layer. Reference is made to intensifying the latent image by flashing the layer with visible light.
