Abstract

507,152. Colour photography. CASPAR. B. Dec. 9, 1937, No. 34082. [Class 98 (ii)] At least one layer of a multi-layer sensitive material is to a colour density higher than that required for accurate colour reproduction by a dye which is fast to ordinary photographic treating solutions but capable of being locally bleached in the presence of metallic silver, said layer comprising also either metallic or colloidal sliver or a silver salt which is uniformly exposed or is sensitized e.g. to infra-red, so that it can ultimately be exposed, for the purpose of removing the excess dye. In the example, the film comprises on one side of the support a blue sensitive emulsion coloured blue-green with Pontamine Sky Blue 5BX, and on the other side a red sensitized emulsion coloured yellow with Xylenewalkgelb G, and a blue sensitized emulsion containing the magenta dye Tuchechtbrillantrot 2B. The yellow dyestuff is in excess of that required for correct image formation. The two other layers may also contain excess. Cryptocyanine may be used to sensitize the layers to infra-red. The images and the exposed silver salt are both transformed by dye destruction with either hydrobromic acid or thiocarbamide solutions.
