Abstract
379,820. Developing sound and picture records. GROVES, W. W., 30, Southampton Buildings, London.-(I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.; Frankfort-on- Main, Germany.) July 21, 1931, No. 20834. [Class 40 (ii).] In a process of developing photographic layers, e.g. sound and picture records on separate supports, to different degrees of gradation, the layers requiring to be developed to the steeper gradation, e.g. the picture records, are pretreated in a bath which in conjunction with the developer renders the gradation steeper, e.g. a bath of alkali such as potassium carbonate to which potassium bromide may be added, or of a hardening agent such as formaldehyde, and the layers are then developed simultaneously in a developing bath suited to the layers in which flat gradation is required, e.g. the sound record. Specifications 176,357, [Class 98 (ii), Photographic processes &c.], and 344,365 are referred to.
