[Class 69 (iii)] [See also Group XI] A device for atomizing liquid in air of the kind in which the liquid is contained in a closed tank acted on by compressed air comprises a solid preferably cylindrical nipple 19 having an axial bore 15 communicating at its lower end with a tube immersed in the liquid in the tank and opening at its upper end into the atmosphere and also a radial passage 14 communicating with the pressure air contained in the tank. In the form shown the nipple 19 is provided with a perforated flange which screws into an internal flange 18 on the nipple 9 which is formed with an external thread for screwing into a fitting on the tank. In a modification the nipple 9 is formed with the passages parallel to the axis into one of which a liquid supplying tube and spraying nipple fit and a transverse passage to carry compressed air to the passage 14. The apparatus is stated to be particularly applicable for atomizing fuel oil in oil-stoves, soldering-lamps, &c.
