Abstract

499,057. Pressure-regulating valves. COXETER & SON, Ltd., and ADAMS, F. H. Oct. 15, 1937, No. 28096. [Class 135] The discharge of high - pressure gas at a reduced pressure is controlled by a spring- pressed metal needle valve 3 which coacts with a replaceable seating 12 of Babbitt or other relatively soft metal, the valve being closed upon undue rise in pressure of the gas in a delivery chamber 1 which is provided with an outlet pipe 4 and locates the said valve and also a spring-pressed flexible diaphragm 2 connected to the valve through toggle mechanism 11. The seating 12 is retained in a barrel 13, screwed at one end into a barrel 7 housing the valve 3 and provided at the other end with the usual nose 13a for connection to a high-pressure gas bottle, by a screwthreaded bored fitment 14 and a like plug 16, a gauze washer 15 preferably being located between the latter. The barrel 7 is, as shown, in screwthreaded engagement with a hole in the end 6 of the chamber 1 and is formed with outlet ports 8. Low and high pressure gauges 5, 17a may be provided.
