Abstract
493,113. Hydraulic air-compressors. WEBER, S. March 31, 1937, Nos. 9232 and 9233. Convention dates, March 31, 1936 and March 26, 1937. [Class 8 (i)] Apparatus for compressing air comprises two chambers 19, 191 having suction and delivery valves and in which the air is compressed by supplying water under pressure through the pipes 20, 201. The supply of water is controlled by a valve 12 actuated by a control device 2 comprising a diaphragm 3. In the position shown water is supplied through pipes 15, and 7 and moves the diaphragm 3 to the right, discharging water from the chamber 1<1> into pipes 7<1>, 20<1> and chamber 19<1> until the diaphragm 3 actuates the abutment 4<1> and moves the valve 12 to the right whereupon water is released from chamber 19<1> through pipe 24<1> and water is supplied to chamber 1<1> and delivered from chamber 1 to chamber 19 until the abutment 4 is moved to repeat the cycle. The valve 12 may be provided with pistons at its end supplied with water under the control of a pilot valve actuated by the control device 2.
