611,628. Hydraulic supply systems. PRECISION DEVELOPMENTS CO., Ltd., OLAH, G., and BOX, F. J. Feb. 20, 1946, No. 5252. [Class 69 (ii)] A system containing a mechanism for unloading one of two pumps delivering liquid to a common. variable-pressure hydraulic system comprises a high-pressure pump 2 supplying liquid to a system 3 through a reducing valve 6 to maintain a constant pressure difference between the pump 2 and the system 3 and an unloading valve 9 containing a large diameter piston 91 connected for common axial movement with a smaller diameter-piston 93. A second large output pump 1 which is to be unloaded at a predetermined pressure feeds the system 3 through a non-return valve 4 and is connected to a port 96, in the unloading valve 9, which also contains a chamber 97 connected to an exhaust conduit 8. The piston 91 is acted upon by pressure liquid from the system 3 and the piston 93 by high-pressure liquid from the pump 2 ; at a predetermined pressure the first mentioned pressure overcomes the second mentioned and the pistons move, piston 93 uncovering the port 96 and connecting the pump 1 to the exhaust conduit 8. A second unloading valve 13 and a relief valve 12 may be provided to relieve the pump 2 at successively higher pressures. Specification 595,930 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
