Description

SPECIFICATION Improved gas regulator This invention relates to an improved gas re gulator intended for use with gas tanks.
The conventional gas regulator (see Fig. 4) has a diaphragm 37 disposed between a body portion 30 and an upper cover 31. The body portion 30 is formed with an inlet 32 and an outlet 33. The outlet 32 is in communication with a passage 34. In the interior of the body portion 30 there is a lug 35 on which is pivoted a rocking arm 36. One end of the rocking arm 36 is provided with a pad 40 for sealing the exit of the passage 34, and the other end of the rocking arm 36 is fixedly connected with the central part of the diaphragm 37. A helic,al spring 38 is mounted between a cap 31 and the diaphragm 37.
Consequently, the gas, after flowing through the passage 34, will decrease in pressure before entering into the stove (not shown) through the outlet 33. Hence the conventional gas regulator can only be used to reduce the gas pressure. In other words, the conventional gas regulator has limited uses. Further, the pressure gauge is directly engaged with a threaded hole formed in the body portion of the gas regulator, so that the connection between the pressure gauge and the body portion of the gas regulator will be easily ruptured thereby being liable to cause gas leakage.
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide an improved gas regulator which may obviate and mitigate the abovementioned drawbacks.
It is the primary object of the present invention to provide an improved gas regulator which may be used to adjust the gas pressure, measure the quantity of gas stored in the gas tank and inspect the piping connecting the gas tank to the store.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an improved gas regulator which is simple in construction.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide an improved gas regulator which is easy to manufacture.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a safety gas flow regulator which is economic to produce.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a safety gas flow regulator which is facile to assemble.
The novel features which are characteristics of the invention, together with further objects and advantages thereof will be better understood from the following description considered in connection with the accompanied drawings in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example.
It is to be expressly understood, however, that the drawings are for the purpose of illustration and description only and are not intended as a definition of the limits of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an improved gas regulator according to the present invention; Figure 2 is an exploded view of the improved gas regulator; Figure 3 is a sectional view of the improved gas regulator; and Figure 4 is a sectional view of a prior art gas regulator.
In order to make the object of the present invention more concrete, the invention will be described now, not limitatively, with reference to the example illustrated in the Figures of the drawings.
With reference to the drawings and in particular to Fig. 1 thereof, the improved gas regulator 100 according to the present invention mainly comprises an upper cover 1 having an inlet 11 and an outlet 12, a lower cover 2, and a pressure gauge 10 threadedly engaged with the top of the upper cover 1.
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, the upper cover 1 is formed on the top with a threaded hole 14 which is in communication with the inlet 11 by way of a L-shaped passage 15. The Lshaped passage 15 has a vertical hole 16 communicating with the interior of the upper cover 1. A fixing member 17 is formed near the vertical hole 16. A threaded member 13 is provided on the inlet side for engaging with the valve of the gas tank.
A rocking arm 18 having a hole 181 is pivotally mounted on the fixing member 17 by a pin 182 extending through the hole 181 and the fixing member 17. The pin 182 is kept in place by connecting each end thereof with a screw 184. One end of the rocking arm 18 is provided with a pad 1 83 for sealing the hole 16 and the other end of the rocking arm 18 extends through upper part 192 of a screw 191. The upper end 192 of the screw 191 is shaped as a ring. The lower end of the screw 191 extends downwardly through a diaphragm 19 and a circular plate 193 and fixed in position by a nut 194. The diaphragm 19 is disposed between the upper cover 1 and the lower cover 2. A helical spring 195 is mounted between the circular plate 1 93 and an adjusting screw 22 which is engaged with threadedly hole 21 of the lower cover 2.The lower end of the lower cover 2 is connected with a cap 23.
When in use, the gas will pass into the Lshaped passage 15 of the gas regulator 100 via the inlet 11. Since the L-shaped passage 15 is in communication with the pressure gauge 10, it will reveal the quantity of gas stored in the gas tank (not shown). As the gas passses into the interior of the gas regulator 100 from the hole 16 of the L-shaped passage 16, the gas will be reduced in pressure and then will flow out of the outlet 12.
The pressure gauge 10 can also be used to inspect the piping connecting the gas tank to the stove and the gas regulator are closed, the pressure will keep unchanged if there is no leakage but the pressure will decrease if there is leakage.
The embodiment of the invention which has been described and illustrated herein is but an illustration of the invention. Other embodiments and modifications will occur to those skilled in the art. No attempts has been made to illustrate all possible embodiments of the invention, but rather only to illustrate its principles and the best manner presently known to practice it.- Therefore, while certain specific embodiments have been described as illustrative of the invention, such other forms as would occur to one skilled in the art on a reading of the forging specification are also within the spirit and scope of the invention, and it is intended that this invention includes all modifications and equivalents which fall within the scope of the appended claim.
