Abstract

425,388. Annealing - furnaces. HOWDEN & CO., Ltd., J., and HOWDEN, W. H., 195, Scotland Street, Glasgow. Jan. 10, 1934, No. 918. [Class 51 (ii)] In an annealing-furnace comprising apot 5 removably mounted in a combustion chamber 3 having a refractory lining 4 and fired by a tangentially arranged burner, the pot 5 is protected by a wall of bricks 7 which are hollowed out on the pot side and assembled to provide a continuous smooth surface on the combustion chamber side. The bricks are retained in position by complementary grooves and projections 7<a>. The pot 5 is supported on a base member 4<a> formed with flues 8, 9, 10 which allow passage of the hot gases and consequent speeding up of the initial heating.
