Abstract

Dynamo and transformer laminations are made from iron alloys containing less than 0,05 per cent of carbon, 2-18 per cent of cobalt, 1-6 per cent of silicon, and the remainder iron. All or part of the silicon may be replaced by a total of not more than 4,9 per cent of aluminium or chromium or both. The ratio of cobalt to silicon is preferably between 2 : 1 and 10 : 1. In heat-treating the alloys, they are heated at temperatures lying outside the critical range in which their magnetic and mechanical properties deteriorate, for example, at 800 DEG C., or at 1100 DEG C.
