Abstract
423,684. Magnetic separators. WOODALL-DUCKHAM (1920), Ltd., BROOKE, S. A., and TOPLEY, A. F., 136, Victoria Street, London. Nov. 2, 1933, No. 30480. [Class 72] In the magnetic separation of materials, the latter are first classified into two grades, the fine grade passing from a hopper A on to a conveyer B and being fed directly on one side of a drum C rotating about an electromagnet D provided with a gapped part D<1>, and the coarse grade from a hopper A<1> on to a belt B<1> and then directly on to the other side of the drum C. The magnetic particles fall into a receptacle F the inlet of which is adjustable by pivoted plates F', and the non-magnetic particles into receptacles E, E<1>. In a modification, the materials are fed from a hopper H on to an inclined reciprocating screen I, the coarse particles passing along the shoot J<1> on to the drum C, and the fine particles along the shoot J.
