[Class 117] In apparatus as described in Specification 372,759, the screen 2 forming the base of the container is rectangular in shape, and the feed shoot 6 is also of rectangular cross-section and is so dimensioned as to feed the material evenly over the width of the screen. The feed shoot is preferably vertically adjustable in the casing 5 and has an adjustable feed regulating plate 8 carried by rods 9. The discharge shoots 11, 13 extend the full width of the screen, and may be provided with adjustable regulating weirs. They may be disposed at one side, or both sides. In a further modification, the discharge shoot 13 for the heavy materials is disposed in the position midway between the sides. An air-lock discharge device 14 rotated by a ratchet mechanism 15 may be associated with the shoot or shoots 13. The bottom side of the container may be enclosed to form a duct 16 to collect fine particles passing through the screen. The sides of this duct may be solid or of filtering fabric and connected to a dust collector. A multiple series arrangement of the apparatus is described in which the light product from one apparatus is fed for further treatment to the next in the series.
