Abstract
468,145. Separating solid materials. SIMON, Ltd., H. (Hart-Carter Co.) Feb. 4, 1936, No. 3363. [Class 117] Grain-separating apparatus comprises a drum separator and a disc separator, both of the pitted surface type, and one portion of the grain from one separator is delivered to the other separator. In the form shown in Fig. 1, material is fed into disc separator 15 at 29 and is urged towards the right by worm 32 and the larger material passes through duct 30 into the two drum separators 4 arranged side by side. The finer material is lifted by pockets in the discs 24 of separator 15 and thrown into a conveyer disposed in a trough represented by the chain lines 26 whence it is carried into separator 16 by paddlelike members 36 arranged in an elevator pocket the walls of which are not shown. The conveyer in trough 26 extends through separator 16 and carries the smaller material to a further paddle member 36 which feeds it into separator 17, from which the smaller material is withdrawn at 67. An outlet 68 is provided for the larger material in separator 17 and another for that in separator 16. Each drum separator 4 has a worm 56 in a fixed but adjustable trough 48 by which the smaller material is conveyed through aperture 58 to outlet 61. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the larger material from drum separator 80 passes by conveyer 111 to inlet 112 of disc separator 84 and the smaller material through duct 90 into disc separator 83. The small material in separator 83 passes, after retreatment therein if desired, to outlet 135 and the larger joins the smaller material from separator 84 which is conducted by conveyer 133 to outlet 138. The larger material rejected by the discs 24 of separator 84 leaves by the outlet 139.
