[Class 83 (i)] [See also Group XXXV] The winding of a squirrel cage rotor provided with radial cooling ducts c is cast in position, the cooling ducts are bridged by sleeves e supported by appropriately formed laminations d at the ends of the packets of laminations and these sleeves are flanged at one or both ends f so as to give a good seating. As shown, the sleeve e is inserted in the lamination d and flanged at both ends. Alternatively, the sleeve may be formed integral at one end with the lamination as by a deep drawing process in which case the other end is flanged. A casting process involving high pressure may be used and the winding may be cast in several sections circumferentially.
