Abstract
379,636. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Reist, H. G. ; 1166, Avon Road, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) March 9, 1932, No. 7082. Convention date, March 9, 1931. [Class 35.] A totally-inclosed machine in which the air is circulated over water-coolers in an end-head is so arranged that the end-head and coolers can be removed without disturbing the end bearing. For this purpose the bearing 19 is supported on a bar 20 connecting two uprights 21 arranged between the main casing 13 and the end head 25 containing the coolers 28. The shaft 23 is continued through the end heading to a housing 24 containing the commutators &c. which are arranged as described in Specification 370,719. Air is drawn by fan-blades 44 on the rotor 17 through a cylindrical baffle 43 surrounding a central opening in a transverse baffle 37 and passes through radial passages 11 in the stator 10, outside a cylindrical baffle 36 attached to the baffle 37, through openings 38 in the baffle 37, and over the coolers 28.
