Abstract
637,020. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. ALLIS-CHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 22044. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1940. [Class 35] In a hydrogen or other gas-cooled machine with one or more coolers disposed between the stator core and casing the coolers are arranged so that access may be had to their interiors without gas escaping from the housing. As shown, hydrogen after traversing the two coolers 36 passes axially between inner and outer casings 9, 7 to two fans at the. ends of the machine and after flowing through radial ducts in the stator and rotor cores flows circumferentially in inner casing 9, through apertures 34 and back to the coolers. The coolers extend from one end of the machine to the other and have covers 52 which can be removed without removing the bearing brackets 17.
