387,961. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. EHRMANN, P., 60, Rue Madame, Paris. May 19, 1932, No. 26106. Convention date, May 19, 1931. Divided on 389,313. [Class 35.] Cooling air is admitted to the stator of a dynamo-electric machine by passages in the casing narrowing in the direction of the flow of air and escapes through other passages which widen in the same direction so that any cross section of the passages is approximately proportional to the amount of air passing at the point. In the arrangement shown the air enters by passages 33, passes over the surface of the stator, which is formed of laminations 321, 322 of different sizes to increase the cooling surface and escapes by passages 34. Modifications are described in which the laminations are formed with pins and notches, and in which the air flows through radial and axial passages. in the stator as well as over its surface.
