Abstract

422,761. Actuating-materials. ERREN, R. A., 299, Seven Sisters Road, Finsbury Park, London. May 28, 1934, No. 15896. [Class 7 (ii)] In an engine using hydrogen or oxyhydrogen together with air, the output is controlled by keeping the admission of air constant and varying the amount of hydrogen or oxyhydrogen. If hydrogen is employed, the constant amount of air is such that the amount of oxygen therein is half the amount of hydrogen admitted for the maximum output; if oxyhydrogen is employed in which the ratio of oxygen to hydrogen is less than 1 : 2, the amount of oxygen in the oxyhydrogen mixture plus that of the oxygen contained in the constant amount of air is half the amount of hydrogen admitted for the maximum output. When a hydrocarbon fuel is used in addition, the quantity of hydrocarbon fuel is also varied to vary the output of the engine.
