[Class 7 (ii)] [See also Group XXXIII] The crank chamber of a radial-cylinder engine is fixed during normal running and is mounted so that it can be turned about the axis of the crank shaft to render the lower cylinder 15 accessible. A flange 11 carried by the crank chamber is surrounded by a ring 13 secured by bolts 14 to a casing housing gearing, and a bolt 16 which prevents the engine from rotating during normal running, may be slackened when the engine is stopped, so that the engine can be turned about the crank shaft. In a modified construction, the engine is held stationary by annular friction linings between the ring 13 and the flange 11.
