Abstract

320,879. Fedden, A. H. R., Butler, L. F. G., and Bristol Aeroplane Co., Ltd. July 23, 1928. Cylinders, pipes for; crank chambers; pumps, centrifugal. -An annular induction chamber 11 is attached to a fixed radial-cylinder engine by extensions 17 of the usual bolts 15 connecting together the sections 13, 14 of the crank case. The engine is supported on a flanged conical plate 19 which is clamped to the crank case by the bolts 15. The chamber 11 may contain a stationary spiral distributor, or, as shown, it may form part of the casing of a rotary blower 23 which is mounted on an extension of the crank shaft 24. A casing 12 for engine accessories is attached to the casing of the chamber 11.
