Abstract

421,722. Hatching-appliances. GLOUCESTER INCUBATOR CO., Ltd., Woodchester, and WRENTMORE, G. W., Woodchester, Stroud, Gloucestershire. June 19, 1933, No. 17423. [Class 5 (ii)] An incubator comprises a fan or fans each consisting of radial blades k attached to a hub h by means forming central apertures p and each mounted on a stub shaft d, extending through the wall or base of the incubator chamber, the said central apertures p cooperating with air inlet apertures b arranged around each fan spindle to draw in air which is distributed over a heating element n disposed in close proximity to the fan. A pin f on the shaft d engages slots g in the hub h, the fan being detachably secured in position by a wing nut l. The heating element n is in the form of an electrically heated coil mounted on insulating posts o and protected by a shield v. In a modification, the fan and heater are mounted on the inner member of a double wall of the incubator, air passing through apertures in the outer member at the base of the incubator into the space between the members and thence through apertures in the inner member arranged around the fan spindle. Several fans may be provided and means may also be provided to cut off some of the air inlets as required.
