Abstract
497,773. Hair - drying apparatus. MULLER & HOFFMANN FABRIK ELEKTRISCHE APPARATE GES. Jan. 10, 1938, No. 710. Convention date, Jan. 8, 1937. [Class 81 (ii)] In a closed-circuit hair-drier in which the air may be wholly or in part shut off, the air is caused to circulate also by a secondary path which causes the hair to be dried by a current of air in the opposite direction. The main air current normally circulates from the fan 6 over the heating resistances 4 through the diaphragm 9 and annular space 18 to the head 1 in the drying chamber 7 and thence partly out of the helmet and partly back to the fan. Air may also pass through the funnel-shaped openings of a series of tubes 10 which terminate in the calotte 12. The flaps 13 can be operated to increase the flow of air into the calotte, by means of a flexible spirally wound rod or by a system of small shafts and universal couplings. This causes the hot air to beat down upon the crown of the head, where the hair is thickest, and which would otherwise, since it is out of the main flow of air, be dried more slowly than the remainder of the hair.
